Boats Are Fun – Discover How You Can Maximize Water Adventure

A day on the water is a day in paradise.

Being out on the open water makes us relax. It gives us a feeling of freedom and contentment. When we’re on a boat, we can go anywhere, and we can do anything. Cruising, fishing, and doing a bunch of water sports are the perfect ways to appreciate a boat.

Boats are fun. It’s that simple.

Wondering how you can use a boat to have some fun? Wondering how a boat can help make memories that will last a lifetime?

Let’s take a look at a few ways to spend a great day on a boat.

Boating Adventures

When we’re out on a boat, the water is our playground.

There are dozens of things that we can do. We can fish the perfect spot. Cruise an open waterway. Tow friends and family on tubes, skis, or a wakeboard.

A boat lets us play, relax, and appreciate a day on the water.

Check out a few ways a boat can create the perfect day of fun.

Fishing

Whether you fish the shallows or fish a few miles offshore, a boat gives us a ton of open water options. Depending on your boat, you’ve got some choices when it comes to fishing.

Freshwater Fishing

If you’re a fan of tracking bass, walleye, or trout on the lake, then you know that flats boats are fun. One of the most relaxing ways to fish a lake is to troll. Pair a Minn Kota trolling motor to the front of your boat, and you can needle around a lake at about 3-5 miles per hour.

Drop a line and fish the freshwater.

Saltwater Fishing

Are you more of a saltwater fishing fan? Are you looking for some deep-sea fishing adventures where you can track halibut, rockfish, and salmon? A day a few miles offshore can be both exciting and rejuvenating.

Want to fish the sea, but don’t want to travel a few miles towards the open water? How about scalloping or lobstering?

Trailering your boat to the Gulf of Maine, Bay of Fundy, or the Southern Gulf of St. Lawrence could offer an amazing experience. You could stock up on some delicious crustacean cuisine by tracking a giant lobster between late June and early December.

Interested in more of a quest? Bring the boat to the coast of St. Pierre or Georges Bank and try your luck in finding some sea or giant scallops.

Having a boat gives you endless opportunities to spend a day fishing and having fun.

Cruising

Boats aren’t just for fishing.

We can spend an entire day relaxing and having fun with friends and family. Spending quality time on a boat can provide a great way to cruise around and appreciate local sights.

Pontoon boats are some of the best options when it comes to cruising. Most comfortably fit eight to ten people. Add to the flat design of the deck, pontoon boats are easy to drive and make it easy for friends and family to mingle while aboard.

Boats are fun to travel open waterways, check out local real estate, and just hang out on the open water.

When December rolls around, lakes make for a perfect backdrop of holiday celebration. There are many different boat parades that are both fun to watch and fun to experience first-hand. When you have a boat, you can become part of the celebration. Decorate, light, and motor around the lake in your festive floating holiday vessel.

Don’t forget to bring some great snacks and drinks!

Playing

Sure, fishing and cruising are some amazing ways to prove boats are fun.

However, if you’re looking for a good time, then it’s time to talk about how to play on a boat. Depending on the size of your boat and your motor, there are endless opportunities to take sports and recreation to a whole new level of fun.

Skiing, Wakeboarding, and Tubing

Nothing beats going fast on a boat. Well, unless you’re going fast behind a boat!

For thrill-seekers and adventurous spirits, a day spent skiing, wakeboarding, or tubing is both healthy and fun. Canada is known for its huge lakes. So, these watery playgrounds are a perfect place to let loose with boating sports.

Pulling someone behind your boat takes a bit of planning, though.

Getting someone out of the water to ski or wakeboard requires a decent-sized motor. Depending on the size of the person and what they’re trying to do, any engine under 45 hp may not be a strong enough option.

It’s easy to have fun with boat activities. Plus, there’s a perfect boat for everyone.

For those boaters that only want a boat for cruising and playing, they may consider a speed boat. For those that simply want to fish, they may consider a flat bottom or jon boat. For those that want to do it all, they may consider a pontoon boat.
