Sur Ron Storm Bee

This electric dirt bike has a badass look that caught all off-road enthusiasts’ eyes when it made its debut at the 2019 EICMA Milan Motorcycle Show. Built for both beginners and pro riders, it hit the market right after the Sur-Ron Light Bee X we highlight below.

With a lightweight and flexible 260 lbs. frame made of forged aluminum alloy, it is highly durable. There is no concern when you experience large drops on the trail because this bike can take a ton of punishment without repairs. When damage does happen, you can easily weld and repair it.

The LCD dashboard provides a readout on battery level, odometer, speedometer, and time. It also provides information on motor temperature and rides modes.

The Storm Bee power comes from a 96V 48Ah lithium battery pack with an integrated brake regen and charger. This allows you to ride about 93 miles at 31 mph, plus another 10 miles due to the brake regen. An integrated charger allows you to park next to a socket and charge.

The bike has a 36” seat height that may create a problem for shorter adults. A 21.5kW96V brushless DC air-cooled motor provides 382 ft-lbs. Of torque, providing instant acceleration when you roll the throttle. Running on a single gear, the bike has a maximum speed of 68 mph and is not road-legal.

Standard hydraulic disc brakes come with an anti-lock braking system, increasing your stopping power on wet or loose terrain. For additional stability on downhill descents and drops, the DVO adjustable front forks have 11.4” of travel for supreme front shock absorption.

The off-road tires are hardcore with 19” front and 17” back aluminum wheels for stabilization on uneven terrain. The knobby off-road tires provide a grip on all variations of off-road terrain. The frame size is comparable to KTM’s Freeride E-XC, and the bike classifies as a Motorcross dirt bike for adults.

KTM Freeride E-XC

This electric motocross bike has a lithium KTM powerpack that removes easily. Purchase an extra battery, and you can easily ride all day. The bike has 42 nm of torque, but it provides a great ride for professionals, even with the low horsepower.

An easy-to-operate handlebar and lightweight 245-pound frame combined with an ergonomic design make it easy to handle the awesome-looking ride. The bike has a maximum speed of 50 mph. The battery only lasts 1.5 to 3 hours, so you will definitely want a backup battery if you spend a lot of time on the trails. The batteries charge quickly, taking only 1.8 hours, making this bike a good choice if looking for a budget-conscious purchase.

Cake Kalk OR

This bike is intended to be ridden on the trail, free-riding, or enduro. Cake is a new company, starting up in 2018, but their use of sizing, geometry, and engineering of the chassis, cockpit, axles, suspension, hubs, and rims have moved this electric dirt bike into a class of its own. This manufacturer has several patents pending for the parts on their electric dirt bikes.

Charging the 2.6 kWh lithium-ion battery takes about 2.5 hours from a 110-amp source or 1.5 hours from a 220 amp source. The length of your ride depends on whether you set it into the Explore mode, which is level 1 power; Excite mode, which is level 2 power; or Excel, which is level 3 power. Explore mode will give you between 3-4 hours of riding time, the Excite 1-2 hours of riding, and the Excel will only let you experience the trails for about one hour.

The regenerative braking power in the 4-stroke braking mode is available in all modes of riding. You also receive moderate regenerative charging in the 2-stroke braking mode. The Kalk OR weighs about 152 lbs., of which 38 lbs. is battery weight.

Cake Kalk INK

This Swedish electric bike is built for trail, endure, and free-riding on off-road trails. Using the same technology and drivetrain as the Kalk OR, the Kalk INK has a simplified but sturdier transmission and slightly heavier, stable wheels.

Utilizing the same Explore, Excite, and Excel riding modes, this bike can take you out on the trail for up to three hours, depending on the setting you select. It has a maximum speed of 50 mph and a best-in-class power density along with state-of-the-art motor control algorithms.

Brake modes include freewheel, 2-stroke motor brake with energy regeneration, and 4-stroke motor brake with energy regeneration. An external charger allows the use of standard 110 V or 220 V outlets and a charging time of 2-3 hours. Charging may be done while the battery is installed on the bike or separately.

Aluminum custom-designed motorcycle rims work in combination with 19” off-road motorcycle tires for optimum control and performance on the track or during endure trail rides.

Kuberg Freerider

This great-looking entry-level electric dirt bike is designed for teens and adults. It has a top speed of 34 mph and weighs only 79 lbs. The powder-coated steel frame has a 48.5” wheelbase, 41” handlebar height, and 34.5” seat height.

The battery takes 2.5 hours to charge and offers a riding time of only one hour. This is a low-priced beginner-level bike and includes a charger and a retractable kickstand.

Oset 10

With an uprated suspension and bigger bars that allow riders up to 90kg, the Oset and is a mini pit bike. This electric dirt bike easily competes with 50cc minis that run on petrol.

The bike is standard with an OSET 20ah lithium battery, 48v OSET drive system, and custom upside-down fork. The adjustable rear oil shock and hydraulic disc brakes make this a good bike if looking for an inexpensive option.

Sur-Ron Light Bee X

The lightweight 104 lb alloy frame of the Sur-Ron Light Bee X has a removable Panasonic Lithium-ion battery that provides 60V and more than 6 kWh of power. Charging in 2.5 to 3.5 hours using a USB charger point lets you hit the trails faster. Depending on the mode you ride in, you will get 20 to 60 miles on a charge.

The 4-piston hydraulic disc brakes on both the front and rear, an LCD dash, and front fender are standard. You have the option of adding a chain guard and rear hugger.

Whether competing in motocross or hitting the trails for pleasure, you are going to love the 45° climbing ability with a top speed of 45 mph. The factory-fitted GPS tracker that includes real-time tracking, theft alerts, and geo-fence security zones makes navigation and safety easy. You can even track your Light Bee X from your computer or smartphone.

The Sur-Ron X-Series dirt bikes all have updates for their 2021 models, including pro handlebar grips, wider handlebars, and a thicker and wider seat that provide a more comfortable ride. Updates include heavier duty gold 0 ring, brakes using 4-pot titanium finish callipers for better heat dissipation and braking power.
