A Detailed Look At What The Polaris UTV XP 1000 Is Bringing

July 25th, 2023 by

The Polaris RANGER XP 1000 is also dubbed the king of off-roads – not just by the manufacturer but also by many fans. It features the best of what Polaris offers     , hence being top of its class in terms of comfort, style and performance.

However, out of all the UTVs, it also attracts a lot of criticism. There are a number of enthusiasts who believe that there may be other options for those on a budget. While we aren’t saying they are right, there is no denying that the price tag may be a bit hefty compared to others.

Having said that, with this price tag, you get a wide range of off-road features that you simply won’t see on any other vehicle in its current MSRP, especially if you’re looking to go faster, lighter, and have sufficient room for your accessories.

In this article, we will take a closer look at the Polaris XP 1000, what it boasts, how it performs, and other technical specifications you need to be aware of before making a purchase.

The Polaris Ranger XP 1000 – An Overview

In a world where you are constantly looking to compromise less and less, the Polaris XP 1000 is a utility machine, according to the manufacturer. However, we are here to tell you that it is not just a work vehicle, but can also be a great fun vehicle. Whether you are simply looking to go on a joyride in the sand or snow, or you need an off-roader for your hunting/sportsman adventures, the Polaris Ranger XP1000 is perhaps a one-shoe-fits-all drive.

Originally released in 2018, the UTV was designed for its looks, power, and performance. However, as the years passed, Polaris has made quite a few upgrades to the vehicle. Much like any other high-end sports car, the Polaris XP1000 has an ultra-aggressive look.

The headlights have a really aggressive, upside-down look, especially when you get them      in black. Of course, there are a number of different options for you to choose from, ranging from pursuit camo to digital camouflage, red, pearl white, and more

It also features a lot of storage capacity for the driver, passenger, or simply behind it – not to mention its towing capabilities on the desert sand, road, or even in the snow. The UTV is designed for work, though, and has a dedicated high-power mode just for that.

If you look at the official Polaris page about the XP 1000, the UTV will seem like an all-work, no-play type of UTV. However, that is not nearly the case as you take the UTV off-road on the dunes or towards mountain tops.

Unfortunately, this also means that it isn’t one of the fastest UTVs in the market, despite the dealer prices, nor does it feature the quietest operation.

Interior

For the 2023 model, the Polaris RANGER XP1000 offers 1,000 lb. storage capacity. This means 13.5 gallons worth of storage normally. For reference, this means that you can store a large wrench about 2.5 feet long in the dashboard alone. The dashboard accounts for 3.5 gallons’ worth of storage, giving you a very deep and elongated storage capacity. Right on top of it is a cup holder, perfect for holding your water bottle or coffee mug when working.

Of course, when you’re going off-road, this cup holder won’t really keep your cup upright. For that, you should use the two cup holders in the middle of the dash. In total, there are six cup holders in the UTV.

There is also the double glove box, i.e., two compartments on top of your dashboard. While the main dashboard has a locking mechanism to hold it firmly in place, the top box only has a few latches to hold it shut. While it won’t open on its own unless you hit the floor hard, it is still best to store small components in there only so that the force doesn’t burst it open.

The glove compartment for the 2023 model is much deeper and relatively sleeker compared to its older versions, though, hence allowing you to store even more while looking at the stylish part.

There’s a handle that allows you to open up the driver’s seat and      store your toolkit easily in the bin underneath. The driver seat flips up forward, while the passenger seat flits backwards. This allows you access to your battery and to store tall things – or simply to have a coworker stand next to you. There is also a cutout underneath the seat that allows you to put a bucket in there securely. Make      sure you don’t go off-road with an uncovered paint bucket     !

Of course, there is the dump bed. For      2023,      the bed is relatively deeper than the rest and features the well-known slant on the bed. This allows water to simply roll off when raining. Of course, snow will accumulate here, so be careful when driving in the snow, or it may impact your handling.

Towing

The suspension offers great comfort, not only for a normal drive      but also when towing. The high-end payload rating that the groundbreaking lineup boasts as well as the tow-rating that leaves all utility side-by-sides in the dust.

This class-leading rating allows you to carry a lot of weight quite easily – something      no other manufacturer can boast. This also means that you can drive uphill easily without your UTV pulling a sweat. This, on top of the standard two-inch hitch and standard winch, allows for a much smoother operating experience than many others.

On your gear selector, you can choose between performance, standard, or work with different wheel-drive options as well as a turf drive so that you don’t rip up the grass – even with things in the cargo box.

Work mode allows for much better maneuverability on tight trails and hauling, while turf mode is relatively quieter. Performance mode lets you ride smoothly onto any surface for that added comfort level. The standard mode gives you the most versatility out of any other mode, though.

Issues & Potential

One of the biggest issue people claim about the Polaris Ranger XP1000 is the pricing. While it features many      unexpected and expected features such as the rhino rack, the ability to install an overhead switch panel, 2-seat storage and seating capacity, and more, the lack of Wi-Fi connectivity and      pre-installed work light is something that many complain about.

However, if you head on to any shop and ask for the local dealer price, they may end up giving you additional options to install any feature you’d like as well. A local Polaris dealer will likely have the necessary tools and accessories for you. Furthermore, they may also offer local rebates based on which option you go for.

Availability of some equipment may take a while, though, as the XP 1000 is relatively rare compared to other off-road vehicle lineup constituents. If you order online, you may also have to pay a destination charge on top of the MSRP (retail price), a logistics surcharge, and registration fee.

Having said that, the set-up and riding procedure are relatively straightforward and are definitely a must-have for every trail rider. The purpose-built UTV can be classified as an ATV as well, provided you want to use it as an ATV.
